It is now February and this is often the time when the New Year strive to get fit and healthy begins to slow. We all do it, we are determined in wanting to achieve our resolutions but often we give in to our old behaviors.
 
So why is this? Well there are a number of reasons which I have listed below:
1.       Calorie Restricted Diets don’t work!
2.       Low Fat diets don’t work – in fact eating the correct fats in the right proportions can help you lose weight!
3.       Pounding the treadmill or the pavements with long slow runs are stressful to the body (catabolic – destroying tissue) and reduce lean muscle mass
4.       Not enough people undertake resistance exercise – this is key to increases your metabolic rate even when your not exercising
5.       Most people are dehydrated – If you are not drinking enough good quality water you will never lose weight a safely
6.       Most people eat too many carbohydrate based foods – These foods are often highly processed and have been linked to obesity and heart disease (it’s not fat that is always the bad guy!)
7.       People do not eat right for their metabolic type – this is essential for lasting weight loss and optimal health
8.       Not getting enough sleep! The body repairs and regenerates when resting and relaxing (this does not include watching TV)
9.       People often don’t know what type of exercise is right for their goals, ability and level of stress
10.   Last but not least – People do not set S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time Bonded) goals

4.       Movement
